BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A 14-year-old boy is recovering after being shot in the leg Saturday evening in Bridgeport, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
Officers responded to two ShotSpotter activations near Union Avenue shortly after 5:10 p.m. on March 22, according to Bridgeport police. A short time later, dispatchers were informed that a 14-year-old city resident had arrived at Bridgeport Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
The injury was deemed non-life threatening, authorities confirmed.
Investigators said the teen had been driven to the hospital in a private vehicle, which was later found abandoned on Mill Hill Avenue. Detectives recovered evidence from both Mill Hill Avenue and the 700 block of Union Avenue, city officials said.
The Bridgeport Police Department’s Detective Bureau is actively investigating the shooting and asking for public assistance.
