Chipotle Mexican Grill has announced the return of its popular trivia game, Chipotle IQ, offering fans the chance to win exciting rewards, including buy-one-get-one (BOGO) deals and free burritos for a year. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Chipotle has hosted this game, which has gained widespread popularity with over four million plays since its launch.
Starting on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at precisely 9:01 a.m. Eastern Time, Chipotle will offer 5,000 BOGO codes per hour to the first Chipotle Rewards members who score a perfect 10 out of 10 on the Chipotle IQ game. The game, which is accessible at chipotleiq.com, challenges participants with a variety of questions about the brand’s ingredients, cooking techniques, and history.
To keep the competition engaging, the trivia game includes multiple-choice, true-or-false, and write-in answers. A perfect score will unlock an extra credit question, and participants who answer it correctly will be entered into a drawing to win one of 50 grand prizes: free burritos for an entire year.
Participants can enter the trivia game once a day from August 20 through Thursday, August 22, 2024, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. To ensure that rewards are credited, players must use the email address associated with their Chipotle Rewards account when participating in the game.
Chipotle IQ is designed to test fans’ knowledge beyond just the basics of the menu. As stated by Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s Chief Brand Officer, “This marks the fifth year that we’re testing our fans’ knowledge with Chipotle IQ. With four million game plays since we introduced the concept, we believe there’s an appetite for competition and free burritos.”

Participants who successfully score 7, 8, or 9 out of 10 on the quiz will also be rewarded, albeit on a smaller scale. These players will receive 25 rewards points in their Chipotle Rewards account while supplies last. These points can be used towards future purchases at any Chipotle location.
For those who achieve a perfect score and receive a BOGO code, the code entitles them to one regular menu entrée with the purchase of another regular menu entrée. According to Chipotle’s terms and conditions, a “regular menu entrée item” includes a burrito, burrito bowl, single order of three tacos, quesadilla (only available via the Chipotle App or on Chipotle.com), or a salad. It is important to note that kids’ meals, 3-point meals, or single tacos are excluded from this promotion.
The return of the Chipotle IQ game is part of Chipotle’s broader strategy to engage with its customer base through interactive and rewarding experiences. The trivia game not only drives traffic to the Chipotle website but also encourages repeat visits as fans can participate daily during the promotion period.
Chipotle’s use of gamification, a trend that has been gaining momentum in the marketing world, serves as a fun and engaging way to connect with customers. By offering tangible rewards like BOGO deals and the chance to win free burritos for a year, Chipotle incentivizes participation and enhances customer loyalty.
Chipotle has been known for its innovative marketing campaigns, and Chipotle IQ is no exception. The game’s blend of education and entertainment, combined with the allure of free food, creates a memorable experience that keeps customers coming back year after year.
As Chipotle continues to innovate in its marketing efforts, the company is likely to see increased engagement and brand loyalty, further solidifying its place as a leader in the fast-casual dining industry.
