Storrs, CT – Landmark Properties has closed on the purchase of 1.56 acres at 134 North Eagleville Road, where it plans to build a 738-bed student housing complex near the University of Connecticut’s Storrs campus.
Construction is set to begin later this year. The project, named The Mark Mansfield, will include 7,000 square feet of retail space, retaining the Huskies Tavern, which currently operates on the site.
“UConn saw a record-breaking 2024 freshman class and, as the university moves forward with plans to expand its enrollment further over the next decade, the demand for high-quality and pedestrian-to-campus living options will continue to increase,” said Jason Doornbos, Chief Development Officer of Landmark Properties.
The site, previously considered for a different housing project, sits within walking distance of UConn’s academic buildings, student center, and athletic complexes.
This marks Landmark Properties’ second project in the Storrs market.
The Standard at Four Corners, another off-campus development, is scheduled to open in fall 2025.
With UConn reversing its eight-semester housing guarantee, upperclassmen face increasing pressure to find off-campus housing. The university’s growing enrollment has fueled demand, making private developments like The Mark Mansfield a key alternative for students seeking housing close to campus.
