New London, CT – The City of New London has announced the launch of its 8-week Neighborhood Academy, an educational program aimed at equipping residents with the knowledge and tools needed to become effective community leaders.
The initiative, set to run from Wednesday, March 5 to Wednesday, April 23, offers participants a face-to-face opportunity to engage directly with City department heads and gain an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at municipal operations.
With a mission to empower citizens to be involved and mobilize, the Neighborhood Academy will provide firsthand insight into the inner workings of the city’s government.
Through interactive sessions, participants will learn about the mechanics of the City of New London, engage in discussions with leadership, and explore pathways to civic engagement.
“Your voice matters, and the City of New London wants to empower you to learn, be involved, and mobilize,” the city stated in its announcement.
The program aligns with efforts to foster resident participation and create a more informed and engaged community.
The academy, held Wednesday nights from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, is open to New London residents, local business owners, and workers, with limited spots available.
Priority admission will be given to residents, followed by business owners and employees, and if space permits, applicants from surrounding cities.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply promptly, as applications close on Thursday, Feb. 20.
