WEST HAVEN, Connecticut – A tragic West Haven Stabbing incident unfolded on Saturday night as a 19-year-old woman and a 2-year-old boy were fatally stabbed in an apartment complex on Meloy Road. Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody.
According to the West Haven Police Department, officers responded to multiple 911 calls around 8:50 p.m. regarding screams coming from the apartment. Witnesses reported seeing a man jump through a second-floor window before collapsing outside. Upon arrival, police discovered the suspect with injuries and transported him to a nearby hospital. Inside the apartment, officers found 19-year-old Hailey Miller and the toddler suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members identified Miller as an aspiring nurse and devoted mother. Her cousin, Nicolette Nealy, described her as “incredibly kind and incredibly thoughtful.” The young mother was raising her son, Jaxon, who was not present at the time of the attack and is now in the care of Miller’s mother and two older brothers. The family has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses and support Jaxon’s future.
The suspect’s identity has not been released, and authorities have not disclosed any potential motives for the attack. The West Haven Police Department is collaborating with the Milford State’s Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to investigate further.
As of Sunday afternoon, no additional details have been made public. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
