STORRS, CT — The UConn women’s tennis team advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals Friday morning with a 4-2 quarterfinal win over Seton Hall.
After a strong start in doubles and a resilient showing in singles, the Huskies secured their place in the next round.
UConn’s top duo, Olivia Wright and Victoria Matos, opened the match with a commanding performance in the No. 1 doubles spot. They were followed by Isabella Asenov and Cameron Didion, who clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3.
In singles play, the Huskies built on their early momentum. Isabel Petri Bere delivered a win, along with Matos, Didion, and Asenov, each earning key victories in their individual matches.
The four singles points were enough to clinch the quarterfinal at 4-2, ending Seton Hall’s tournament run.
With the win, UConn moves into the semifinal round and will face the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 quarterfinal matchup.
