WATERBURY, CT — A man riding a motorized scooter was seriously injured Thursday evening in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Meriden Road and Enoch Street.
The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m., according to the Waterbury Police Department.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the adult male rider suffering from significant injuries.
He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition, where he continues to receive treatment for life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate the scooter collided with a second vehicle at the intersection. That vehicle fled the scene before authorities arrived.
Lt. Ryan Bessette stated, “Upon arrival at the scene, officers located the motorized scooter as well as an adult male rider suffering from significant injuries.”
The vehicle believed to be involved has since been recovered by investigators.
Efforts are now underway to identify the individual behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
Bessette said, “The involved vehicle has since been located by investigators, and efforts are ongoing to identify the driver responsible for this reckless act.”
Police are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the department.
